Local Spotlights (East TN)

Knoxville, the time has come to stop arguing in the group chat and start voting. We’re launching the Best of Knoxville 2026 awards to crown the kings of the daytime scene. From sun-drenched patios to the ultimate brunch, your favorites need your support. Don’t let greatness go unrewarded. Vote now.

Reading Time: 6 minutes, shorter than the wait for a patio table.

Listen up, Scruffy City. We’ve spent enough time "researching" the best spots in town, which is mostly just a polite way of saying we’ve spent a small fortune on orange-infused cocktails and locally brewed lagers. But now, the research phase is over. It’s time for the accountability phase.

We’ve all been there: you’re sitting at a table that has the perfect amount of shade, the music is at that sweet spot where you can actually hear your friends complain about their bosses, and the bartender knows exactly how much lime you actually want. You think to yourself, “This place is the GOAT.” Well, it’s time to prove it.

Welcome to the Best of Knoxville 2026. This isn't one of those corporate "best of" lists where a shadowy committee of people who haven't left their air-conditioned offices since 2012 decide who wins. This is by the people, for the people, and, most importantly, about the drinks. We’re handing out the titles for Knoxville’s absolute best daytime vibes, and the locals (that’s you) decide every single winner.

Starting Monday, July 6th, we’re kicking off a week-long nomination frenzy. If you love a place, you better stand up for it. Because in this town, if you don't vote, you can't complain when your favorite hidden gem gets snubbed by that one place with the mediocre mimosas but the really good Instagram lighting.

The Categories: Six Days of Glory

We aren’t just throwing one big party and calling it a day. We’re breaking this down into the essential pillars of a Knoxville weekend. Every day next week, a new category drops on our Facebook page.

Monday – Best Overall

This is the big one. The heavyweight championship. This isn't just about one drink or one view; it’s about the soul of the establishment. The place you take your out-of-town friends to prove that Knoxville is actually cool. The place where the vibe is always right, the staff is legendary, and you never have to ask where the bathroom is because you’re practically a resident.

Tuesday – Best Bartender

Let’s be honest: a bar is just a room with expensive furniture until a great bartender shows up. We’re looking for the person who sees you walk in and already has your order halfway poured. The one who can manage a three-deep crowd without breaking a sweat or losing their sense of humor. These are the unsung heroes of the daytime scene, and it’s time they got a shiny badge for their efforts.

Wednesday – Best Patio/Rooftop

If there’s no natural light, is it even day drinking? We think not. Wednesday is all about the spots that let you soak up that East Tennessee sun. Whether it’s a sprawling rooftop overlooking Gay Street or a tucked-away patio in Happy Holler with enough greenery to make you feel like you’re in a botanical garden (that serves booze), we want to know where you go to get your Vitamin D.

Thursday – Best Waterfront

We are blessed with a river that actually looks like a river and not a drainage ditch. Thursday is dedicated to the spots where you can watch the boats go by while you work on your second round. There’s something about being near the water that makes a cold drink taste approximately 40% better. It’s science. Don’t look it up.

Friday – Best Dog Friendly

Let’s face it, your dog has a better social life than you do. Knoxville is a dog town, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re looking for the venues that don’t just "tolerate" four-legged friends but actually welcome them with water bowls, treats, and plenty of ear scratches. If your dog doesn't get excited when you grab the leash to go to the brewery, is it even a good brewery?

Saturday – Best Brunch

The holy grail of daytime social experiences. Brunch in Knoxville is a competitive sport. We’re talking about the places where the hollandaise is silky, the bacon is crispy, and the "hair of the dog" options are plentiful. Whether you’re a savory traditionalist or a sweet-waffle-enthusiast, Saturday is your day to crown the brunch king.

The 3-Step Process to Greatness

We’ve kept this simpler than trying to find parking near Market Square on a Saturday morning. Here is how you ensure your favorite spot takes home the gold:

  1. Nominate: Starting Monday, July 6th, keep an eye on our Facebook page. When the category of the day drops, head to the comments and tag your favorite spot. That’s it. One tag equals one nomination.
  2. Vote: Once the nominations are in, the real battle begins. Nominations for each category will be open for 7 days after they are first posted. We’ll take the top-tagged spots and put them to the ultimate test.
  3. Crown: The winners don’t just get our undying respect (which, let’s be honest, is worth a lot). They get the official Best of Knoxville 2026 badge to display proudly, bragging rights for an entire year, and a permanent featured spot on DayDrinkingHQ.com.

Why This Matters (Beyond the Booze)

At DayDrinking HQ, we’re all about the "Good Times, Great People, Home Before The Street Lights Come On" lifestyle. We believe that the best stories aren't told at 2 AM in a dark room with sticky floors; they’re told at 2 PM on a sunny patio with your best friends and a decent breeze.

Knoxville’s local businesses are the heartbeat of this city. They’re the places where you met your partner, where you celebrated your promotion, and where you went to decompress after a long week. This contest is our way of saying "thanks" to the owners, the servers, and the atmosphere-makers who make our city unique.

This isn't about the biggest budget or the flashiest marketing. It’s about the vibe. It’s about the feeling you get when you walk through the door and know you’re in the right place.

Don't Let Your Spot Get Robbed

There is nothing worse than seeing a "Best Of" list and thinking, "How did THAT place win when [Your Favorite Spot] is clearly superior?" Well, now you have no one to blame but yourself.

Rally the troops. Send this article to your group chat. Tell your favorite bartender to start warming up their social media fingers. Only the most-tagged spots make the final ballot, so every single tag counts.

Head over to the DayDrinking HQ Facebook Page right now, hit that follow button, and get ready for July 6th.

And remember: play hard, drink local, and let’s show everyone why Knoxville is the undisputed capital of the daytime vibe.
